In a report from the New York Post, the current Mets owners also own SportsNet New York and believe they can sell the team without giving up the sports network. It was also reported that Wayne Rothbaum, the billionaire working with the couple to get the team, wanted the team at a discount and he wanted more control of the team. The relationship between Rothbaum and “J-Rod” ultimately soured.
